3 Steps to Take When Your Thermostat Has Lost Power in Brooksville, FL

February 17, 2021

It can be quite a shock to come home from work and see the thermostat in your Brooksville, FL, residence staring back at you with a blank screen. Fortunately, there are several things you can do to get a handle on the problem. Read on to learn the three most important steps to take if your thermostat has recently lost power.

1. Check for Dead Batteries

Unless your thermostat connects to your HVAC system through a common wire, you’ll need to make sure that its batteries are always full of juice. If you saw your thermostat flashing a low battery sign shortly before it went out, then it’s safe to assume that dead batteries are the problem. If this is the case, then all it takes to get your thermostat back on track is to pick up a new pair of batteries from your local store and install them.

2. Check Your Electrical Box

Your thermostat could have shut down as a response to a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker. Look inside your electrical box to see if any of the circuit breakers have flipped. If it looks like one of them has, then flip it back before checking your thermostat for signs of life again.

3. Consider Calling a Professional

If checking your thermostat’s batteries and looking inside your electrical box doesn’t help you find the problem, then you may have a wiring issue on your hands. If that’s the case, it’s best to leave it to the professionals. One of our technicians can come in, quickly diagnose the problem and fix it right away.

Our team regularly helps homeowners in Brooksville, FL, fix thermostat issues of all kinds. To learn more about all our HVAC repair services and how we can help you, contact Butler Heating & A/C Inc. today.
